Congratulations to our grand prize winner.

Rory Hollins from Puget Sound Blood Center is going to Hawaii!!!

Rory works in thWheel Options Grand Prize Winner, Rory Hollinse Human Resources department of the Puget Sound Blood Center. Depending on the time of year, or what he has going on, Rory is either a bus or carpool commuter, favoring the bus during the summer months. He participated in the Wheel Options campaign after receiving an email from his Employee Transportation Coordinator, Karlyn. “The Puget Sound Blood Center is great at promoting and encouraging employees to utilize alternatives to driving alone” says Rory. He did not expect to win anything this year, let alone the grand Prize and is so excited to take his wife (and maybe son) to Waikiki, Hawaii!

Rory moved to Seattle from Ft. Lauderdale about 16 years ago and has been a user of alternative commute options for the last 12 of his 16 years in Seattle. “The options here are so much more convenient than in Florida” Rory says, “I use alternative options for primarily convenience, but environmental and financial reasons come into play as well.”

For those who may be new to choosing a green commute option, Rory recommends that you just try it. “It can be daunting at first,” he says, “but give it time and you can find it nice and relaxing. I can’t imagine going back to commuting as a single occupant driver.”

Besides carpooling and bussing to work, Rory loves the convenience of LINK Light Rail for non-work related travel. Rory would much rather hop on the Light Rail than have to deal with driving and parking at the airport. Actually, I’ll bet that Rory will take Light Rail when he heads out to Hawaii!
