Scott Gibson

Scott Gibson has carpooled and vanpooled for the past 6 years, and now the payoff is greater than ever! He is thrilled to have won the Wheel Options grand prize trip for two to Paris.

Scott is a Fiscal Analyst for the Washington State Department of Transportation in Thurston County. He carpools to work two to four days a week. Before commuting in a carpool, he was part of an Intercity Transit vanpool for three years. His commute is 35 miles from his home in Pierce County.

Scott is dedicated to carpooling as much as possible. He saves money, wear and tear on his car, helps save the environment, and he enjoys having someone to socialize with on the commute. And, he says, "Carpooling helped me keep my 20-year-old car alive for another three years."

Dacia Dunbar, Commute Coordinator for WSDOT, is very happy. "DOT is active in promoting commute options and management is very supportive of the effort," she says. "So I am very excited to have a DOT employee win the grand prize."

Scott’s advice to others considering carpooling, vanpooling, riding the bus or bicycling? "Do it! It saves time, money and the environment. Being a financial professional, I know how much money it saves!"
